Porcelain Veneers Perth

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells of ceramic material that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance and function. Veneers may be used to enhance the overall aesthetics of your smile, whether you wish to refine the shape, size, or colour of certain teeth.

When designing veneers, your dentist considers factors such as your facial structure, smile line, and tooth proportions to achieve a natural-looking result that complements your individual features.

What Can I Expect to Pay?

Here at Dental 359 we always recommend beginning with a consultation so that we may provide you with an accurate estimate of costs.
Once a consultation has taken place, our team will have a better understanding of our patients concerns and how to achieve the end result they desire.

Following a consultation, your Dentist will prepare a comprehensive treatment plan and estimate costs.  This will differ for every patient as everyone’s needs are unique.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

International research suggests that the reasonable life expectancy of porcelain veneers should be 10-12 years on average. Technique sensitive and strict protocols and quality measures are required. Following such protocols takes time, expertise and artistic license.

This can only occur if you follow the advice given from your Dentist once treatment is complete:

  • Regular professional and home care maintenance is carried out
  • Gum health is assessed on a regular and ongoing basis (2 visits a year)
  • Your teeth are protected from the damage of night time grinding by wearing a splint
  • You are using your teeth for eating food only! Stay away from chewing ice or opening plastic bags

When Veneers May Be Considered

  • Spaces between teeth
  • Minor chips or cracks
  • Uneven or worn teeth
  • Teeth that are small or irregular in shape
  • Certain permanent stains or discolouration

Your dentist will assess your suitability and discuss alternative treatment options, such as whitening or crowns, depending on your clinical needs.

Porcelain Veneers can create an aesthetic and well-proportioned smile. Unlike the process of Porcelain Crowns, Porcelain Veneers require very little reduction of the natural tooth. Bonded straight to the teeth’s existing structure, Porcelain Veneers use a relatively conservative technique.

Customised to match the colour of your natural teeth, Porcelain Veneers can aesthetically enhance a smile makeover. Porcelain Veneers have a high resistance to staining and therefore give a natural, realistic appearance for longer.Porcelain Veneers enable the front surface of your tooth to have a ‘face lift’. The popularity of Porcelain Veneers is constantly increasing, due to their natural appearance and strong supporting structure.

The Porcelain Veneer Process with Dental 359

1. Consultation
Your first visit will involve a comprehensive consultation with one of our dentists to discuss your treatment goals, options, and costs. Your dentist will examine your oral health to ensure veneers are an appropriate choice for you.

2. Hygiene and Diagnostic Records
You’ll see our hygienist for a professional clean and assessment of gum health. Diagnostic records, such as digital scans or impressions, may be taken to assist with treatment planning. A preview or mock-up may be created to help you visualise a potential outcome, noting that final results can vary between patients.

3. Tooth Preperation
During this appointment, a small amount of enamel may be removed to prepare the surface for bonding. A digital scan is then taken for the dental laboratory to fabricate your custom veneers. Temporary veneers are placed to protect your teeth while the final ones are made.

4. Veneer Placement

Once your veneers are ready (usually within about two weeks), they are carefully bonded to your teeth and adjusted for comfort and appearance. Your dentist will provide care instructions to help maintain your veneers for the long term.

As with all dental treatments, outcomes can vary depending on your oral health, bite, and maintenance habits. Porcelain veneers are durable but may eventually require replacement or repair. Your dentist will discuss expected longevity, care requirements, and potential alternatives during your consultation.

Dental Hygiene Frequently Asked Questions

My gums bleed when I brush my teeth or floss, what does this mean?

Bleeding gums are a sign of inflammation caused from plaque, a sticky film containing bacteria sitting on the teeth and along the gum line. When teeth aren’t brushed adequately the bacteria causes Gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gums. This includes swollen/ puffy gums, darkened red in colour, bleeding and can be painful. Gingivitis is reversible through good brushing 2 times a day and flossing once a day. If bleeding occurs when you floss don’t be discouraged this is a sign that you need to floss more. You aren’t doing any damage to the gums and after a short time the bleeding will stop and your gums will become a lot healthier.

We’ve written a blog containing some great tips for flossing and brushing your teeth. See more here.

New studies have shown that electric toothbrushes clean teeth and gums better than a manual toothbrush. Scientists have found that they achieve healthier gums and less tooth decay. The oscillating motion of an electric toothbrush allows the user to hold the brush lightly on the tooth and allow to brush to clean rather than using a scrubbing motion. This helps minimise gum recession and wear on the teeth. Bec (our Dental Hygienest) and Dr Golestani both recommend switching to an electric toothbrush, and find patients that make the switch not only have better oral health but love their new brush and wish they made the switch years ago!
Whitening you teeth is a great options to improve your smiles appearance and achieve a brighter look. Before your whitening appointment you will need to undergo an examination and a scale and clean. Unfortunately not all patients are suitable to have whitening, such as patients with anterior crowns or restorations, as they won’t lighten. Patients with tooth decay or demineralisation, pregnant patients and children. Ask Bec or Dr Hooman Golestani if you are suitable for whitening at your next scale and clean!
