Teeth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that can help reduce the appearance of stains or discoloration on natural teeth. It is a non-invasive option for improving the appearance of your smile and does not involve removing any tooth structure, unlike crowns or veneers.

In-Chair Whitening POLA Rapid

Pola Rapid is a professional, in-clinic whitening treatment designed to be completed in approximately 60 minutes. The treatment uses a whitening gel with built-in desensitisers and fluoride to help minimise tooth sensitivity.

Important Information

  • Whitening effects are variable and depend on the individual’s teeth and the type of staining.
  • Treatments are only effective on natural enamel. Crowns, veneers, fillings, or certain types of staining (such as tetracycline) may not respond to whitening.
Alternative cosmetic options can be discussed with your dentist.
  • A professional scale and polish is recommended before whitening to optimise results. It is suggested to arrange this at least one week prior to your whitening appointment.
  • Some sensitivity or gum irritation may occur after treatment, which is typically temporary.

TEETH WHITENING Q & A

The information below has been provided by Phillips Zoom! Whitening.
IS TEETH WHITENING SAFE?
Yes. Clinical studies have shown that whitening your teeth with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide under the supervision of a dental professional is safe for teeth and gums.
Teeth whitening may not be suitable for those with crowns, veneers or fillings in your front teeth. So those with certain dental work may not be candidates. A consultation would be needed.
In-chair: professional teeth whitening in-chair treatment lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Whitening treatments help to reduce existing stains, but through consumption of coffee and soft drinks or just through natural aging, your teeth may eventually become discoloured again. Maintenance whitening can help combat recurring discolouration.
The most common side effect is tooth and gum sensitivity. Your dental professional is your best resource to make sure you’re a good candidate for whitening and that you are using the right formula. Philips Zoom take-home whitening products have two mild desensitising agents, potassium nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), to help minimise tooth sensitivity.
No professional whitening brand is requested by more patients than Philips Zoom4!. Dental professionals have trusted Zoom’s advanced technology and superior results backed by robust clinical evidence for more than 20 years.
Whitening treatments help to reduce existing stains, but through consumption of coffee and soft drinks or just through natural aging, your teeth may eventually become discoloured again. Maintenance whitening can help combat recurring discolouration. Philips Zoom offers a variety of whitening options to help maintain your white smile.
There are many causes of teeth discolouration. Some of the most common include the consumption of highly coloured foods and drinks (berries, curry, coffee, tea, red wine). Some medications, aging, smoking and trauma can also cause teeth discolouration.

Sensitivity during treatment may occur in some people. The Zoom4! light produces minimal heat, which is usually the source of discomfort. The Zoom4! lamp can be adjusted for sensitive teeth. If you have sensitive teeth or are worried about discomfort, we can also recommend a sensitive toothpaste to be used prior to treatment to minimise your discomfort.

You will be able to discuss any concerns during a complimentary consult with Dental 359.

With Philips Zoom4!,  teeth can be up to 8 shades whiter in 45 minutes. With Zoom take-home, you can achieve great results within 1-2 weeks. With Philips Zoom QuickPro whitening varnish, you can achieve a noticeably whiter smile with a 10 minute application and with little to no sensitivity.
