Maintaining Your All-on-4® Dental Implants: Tips for Longevity & Success

Do You Have a Dental Emergency?

If you are about to lose your teeth, are tired of dentures, or have been told you are not a candidate for traditional implants, All-on-4® may be for you. With the All-on-4® procedure you can receive implants and a full set of non-removable replacement teeth in just 1–3 days.

What is All-on-4®?

All-on-4® is a cost-effective, advanced technique whereby a whole arch of teeth is supported by only four implants. It is a revolutionary approach that allows the total oral rehabilitation of patient swith the placement of only four titanium dental implants in each jaw, through a quick and minimally invasive procedure.

The implants act as a foundation for a fixed bridge, which allows the placement of a full set of teeth similar to natural teeth. All-on-4® allows even those patients with virtually no bone to have fixed teeth without the need for bone grafting in many cases — making it an option for those who may have been told they cannot have implants at all.

The All-on-4® Journey at Dental 359

Your journey at Dental 359 typically includes:

  • Consultation and diagnostics — a thorough consultation, oral examination, 3D imaging, impressions and scans to determine the final position of the implants.
  • Day 1 (Surgery) — your remaining teeth are removed (if necessary) and the bone is prepared to receive the implants. Implants are placed and the area is closed with sutures in preparation for the next step.
  • Day 2 (Try-in) — your new teeth are set in wax and tried in your mouth within 24 hours of surgery. Adjustments to position, bite and aesthetics are made during this appointment. You get to see and feel what your end result will look like.
  • Day 3 (Fit) — your new final or provisional teeth are fitted to the implants. You leave the practice with a beautiful new smile.

Maintaining Your All-on-4® Implants

Caring for your All-on-4® is slightly different to caring for natural teeth, but with the right routine it is straightforward:

  • Brush your implant-supported teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.
  • Use a water flosser or interdental brushes to clean under the bridge where a regular toothbrush cannot reach. This is essential to prevent bacteria building up under the prosthesis.
  • Rinse daily with an alcohol-free antimicrobial mouthwash to further reduce bacterial load.
  • Attend your regular check-up and professional cleaning appointments at Dental 359 every 6months. These allow us to assess the health of the implants, the condition of the prosthesis and the health of the surrounding tissue.
  • Avoid very hard or very sticky foods that could stress the implant structure or risk damaging the bridge.
  • If you grind your teeth at night (bruxism), let Dr Golestani know — a custom night guard can protect both your implants and your prosthesis from excessive force.

With proper care, your All-on-4® implants can last many years, and in many cases, a lifetime. To find out whether you are a candidate for All-on-4®, contact Dental 359 on 1300 625 625 to arrange a consultation with Dr Golestani.
